The Evolution Game consists of more than 700 separate items:-

• The game board
• 4 sets of colonies (red, blue, yellow & green counters)
• Ecological Niches : A pack of 63 cards (see later)
• Natural Selection Cards : A pack of 48 cards with various instructions
• Mutation Cards : A pack of 48 cards with various combinations of coloured stripes (lilac, lemon, orange & lime)
• Specialisation Cards : 4 packs of small coloured cards; one colour per pack (lilac, lemon, orange & lime)
• The Time Dice : A normal white dice with black spots
• The Environment Dice : A white dice with coloured faces
• 2 Population Control Dice : Black dice with various white geometric designs
• 4 Gene Pools : one small board for each player
• 7 other small boards for stacking and storing cards, dice & counters
• 4 cups for storing the colonies
