Lari Aaltonen studies ethnomusicology at University of Tampere. He has studied sitar in Kathmandu, Nepal in the years 1999 and 2003 under the tutelage of Gyanu Radha Gorkhali and Steven Landsberg. He has also studied in the Rotterdam Conservatory, Netherlands in the Summer of 2000 under the tutelage of Pandit Budhaditya Mukherjee. These masters come from the Senia and Imdadkhani gharanas respectively. In his studies at Tampere University Lari is focusing on Hindustani music particularly in Nepal and his thesis will be based on this subject. |
