"The Sixth Floor" is a group of Finnish musicians specialising in early music performing in different compilations from a big baroque orchestra to small instrumental/vocal chamber ensemble. Founded in 1989, it has regularly given concerts in Helsinki and in the capital district of Finland and in several Finnish festivals (Kuhmo, Naantali, Hämeenlinna, Turku). Many of its biggest productions have been organised and broadcasted by the Finnish Radio, e.g. Bach: The Christmas Oratorio, Handel's and Purcell's Odes to St Cecilia.
Its members are active as well in other Finnish early music ensembles as in important Finnish Orchestras such as Radio Symphony Orchestra, The Finnish National Opera, Avanti! and the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra. Many of the players are also active abroad, taking part in the work of several internationally known orchstras such as La Chapelle Royale, Musica Antiqua Köln, The Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, The Orchestra of the 18th Century and Tragicomedia.
